Frost Lord Revisited

Last months issue (#123) Had some of the best photos in it that we've ran in a long time, and I made the bone headed mistake of leaving out the photographers name. Well Vic Macias is based in Phoenix and shot the Frost Lord for Atomic Trent, and he did just an amazing job capturing how bad ass this thing really is. I got to see it up close at BF4 this year, and let me tell you, for once, the photos actually do do the bike justice. Stop over to Vic's site for more photographic goodness...

Brian from Black Sunshine Customs came out this weekend for us to shoot his winning 2012 Pro Chop-Off bike. This thing is immaculate, and I could have spent another three hours on top of the three hours I spent just shooting all the little details. Look out for the full coverage in issue #124, it's gonna rule!

You Shootin' me Shootin' you

Caught up with Andy Pangea at BF4, and we synchronized these amazing shots. Wish I could go back and pull my pants up a bit, ha. MAN did he crank out yet another crazy detailed bike for the show, doin' it in a style all of his own. In a world filled with trend humpers and cookie cutter bikes, Andy is doin' his own damn thang. Respect. Check it out.

GTP Does A Wheelie, Part Deuce

I've had a lot of people ask me, "Say, Jordan, what does the footage look like from the go-pro mounted on GTP's panier in the wheelie painting you did a few fridays ago?"

 Well, here are some screen shots from that footage. The third one is when I snapped the picture, i do believe. Notice my expression in the last one, ha!

Still a little ways away from even beginning to edit the footage down for the Smoke-Out DVD, mainly because i've been so swamped with just getting laying out bike features, and editing and compiling Backtalk, and keeping up with maintaining the Horse Website (since I became "webmaster" a little while ago) and uploading the issues to the server for print, and dealing with changing advertisements from different advertisers, and just generally trying to not go insane while wearing a hundred different hats.

 p.s. thank you to all the bands who submitted music. Sadly, i've been so swamped that I haven't even had a chance to listen to hardly any of it, but rest assured I still have all your e-mails and music links, and if you haven't heard from me yet, you will soon. And if you've got a band and want to be on the soundtrack, its not too late!

Well Hello There...

Sorry i've been slaggin' on posting this week, we've been slammed trying to finish the issue in time for deadline. But now that its all done and shipped out, i'll be able to bring you some real treats later on this week. Here's a shot from a few issues back...

Out with the old, in with the new

About two years ago this time, my girl Kelly bought her first motorcycle. Picked it up from a well intentioned pudgy guy who made a point to highlight in the craigslist posting that he "rides it in shorts all the time", which, quite honestly was the selling point for us. Scooped her up for well under the KBB value, and we haven't stopped messing around with it since.

In the two short year's she's owned the Street Rocker, she's logged around 30,000 miles on the little 535 motor, including two rides out to Sturgis, a ride out to New Jersey, and a boogie down the Outter Banks of NC. While its not a proper "chopper", it doesn't really matter-- the fun-to-dollars ratio on this thing has been outstanding.

Last Wednesday, Kelly came across a screamin' deal on an Evo Sportster. Needless to say, we pulled the trigger and now the ol' Virago is up for sale. I gave her the all star treatment last night, full detailing job and glamour shots included. Here's two of my favorite from the night...

Maybe its a bit overkill for a craigslist posting picture, but I don't care. We had fun with this scoot, and I can't wait to start in on the next one.  (On a side note, what is with guys taking photos of bikes for sale while the bike is still crammed away in the corner of the garage with an inch of dust on it with the lights off and the camera out of focus and they don't include the whole bike in the picture and you're not sure if they're selling the piece of crap bike or the kid's hoola-hoops in the background?!)

At any rate, so long Street Rocker, hello Evo Sporty. This is gonna be fun...

The Early Bird Gets The Worm, a.k.a. The Hustlin' Cro Gets The Full Feature

I'm so excited, our next issue #118 will feature some amazing bikes photographed by some amazing photographers!

The first one i'd like to preview here is a scoot from Caleb Owens at Cro Customs. He built a real beauty of a scoot, just the right amount of rake and stretch and shiny and not shiny, the thing just oozes style without screaming "look at me!", which is quite frankly the only classy way to ooze your style.

Caleb, along with the very talented Michael Schmidt, busted out a photo shoot in historic downtown Culver City, CA, last weekend and got the photos over to me with the quickness.... Let me just say, you readers are in for a real treat! If you aren't familiar with Michael's work, check up on it here, the man works wonders with film and has a style that is completely his own. And if you haven't seen a Cro bike before, then prepare to start ogling. Caleb did a way better job than I could describing the whole process of how the feature and photo shoot came to be, so read up on it here!

I stayed at the offices late last week Friday to shoot some detail shots of Mike's Evo powered monster for our next cover. Put the headphones on, cranked the tunes to 11, and started moving the studio lights where ever I felt they needed to go... Gotta say, I was diggin' on what was coming into my camera lens!
