The Jerk
Posted by

One of my all time favorite movies is "The Jerk" with Steve Martin. So when I had the day off yesterday and was browsing my local used book store, I was quite excited to find it in paper back form.
The Jerk, in paper back? Yes, i found myself asking the same question. How could you put that awesome movie into book form? Well, the whole thing is just like a collection of screen shots and brief re-caps of the main scenes. Not as good or hilarious as the movie, but a cool find for sure.
I was mainly excited to see the scene where Steve Martin, or "Navin" as he's known in the movie, meets and briefly dates a bad ass motorcycle stunt chick in a traveling carnival. Here it is!
Sweet paint job!
I was really hoping they'd have the scene where she bursts through a flaming wall, wipes out hard, gets up and throws her helmet into Navins gut, asking him if he wants to go on a date-- all in one fowl swoop! But it was not in the book form... the riding over the VW scene will have to do.
Towards the end of the Carnival segment, Patty finds out that Navin's been hangin' with another chick, and she totally kicks his ass then pulls a blade on him. I think seeing this movie at such a young age may have sparked my love and appreciation (and respect!) for chicks who ride their own motorcycles. Ha!

Fresh outta Honolulu

Alright, that last photo on the last post of that Washington/Brando mash up was just way too creepy for me, and I even made it! Gotta change it up here a bit...
Every so often I'll get an e-mail from a model posing on some sort of two wheeled contraption asking how she can get the photographs into our mag. Most of the time the girl looks good, but the bike isn't quite our flavor. Such is the case here.
The lovely Kat Deleon from Honolulu, Hawaii sent these photos in to me this morning. While i'm not into pink tribal studio customs, I can dig on the female form.
Awwww yeah!

Broc's Kaw...

As featured in Issue 106.
There is a pretty interesting story behind the build, you'll want to read it.
And after you read it, you'll want to get a hold of Broc and his shop. BUT, I think there was a misprint in the mag. The shop's contact info is as follows: Brock Dunlop, 602-515-2285
Sorry bout' that mate!

Headin' to Cinci
Posted by
Jordan Z.
We're all caravanning down to Cincinnati tomorrow for the V-Twin expo. If you're there, stop by our booth and say "hi!"
Cover girls Stephanie (issue #99) and Ebola (issue # 106) will be there. If you're lucky, they just might give you a signed copy of their issue... We've only got a handful of each, so you'll have to ask nicely!
See you there!

If you've picked up our current issue that's on stands right now, #106, you'll see a feature I shot under the the name "Rubber Band XS." It's towards the back.
The young lady posing for the day brought only a handful of outfits, and every one of em' involved a thong of sorts.
Now I ain't complainin (at all!) but we can't show a thong clad behind in the rag... so I figured i'd post em up here!
Here's every shot I wanted to use, butt couldnt. Enjoy!

"Letters to the editors"
Posted by
Jordan Z.
Back when I started working for The Horse, there seemed to be a lot of mail coming in for the editors.
I'm talking letters and envelopes containing actual photos and sometimes handwritten tech sheets and barely legible stories. We still get lots of mail, but now-a-days it seems to be all in an electronic "inbox".
I still love opening up a letter and seeing old photographs or somebody's badass drawing, and I try to hang on to the stuff that catches my eye. I'm always blown away by the dedication I see to this magazine, our readers are awesome!
A while back, I opened two letters one morning, one from the cornfields of the mid-west, and one from somewhere way back up in the woods (I've long since lost the envelopes in which they came in, so names and exact locations have escaped my memory.)
Our farm girl is on the left posing for our "Pin-up of the Month" page, and our good ol' boy is on the right showin' off his fresh Charlie Horse ink.
Over the next few week's, i'll be dishing up some more of these paper submissions and posting em' up here. I invite you guys out there to keep sending actual stuff in the mail, and if its cool, i'll throw it up here.
(On a side note, if you're trying to send me photos of your bike for a magazine submission, keep sendin' that shit in digitally... bike features aren't so cool when they're on a 3x5 Wallgreens print.)
Alright, now get busy!

first day on the job
Posted by
Jordan Z.
My first day on the job was at this cover shoot for issue #91, and it was amazing.
Eric Gorges was the main guy shooting that day, so I just sort of shot from over his shoulder. When he took a break, I hopped right up to deck and snapped away.
She was spilling out of her outfits in so many ways, its was insane. I think she showed up with her entire wardrobe for the day bundled up in the palm of her hand. A few thongs, some string bikini tops, and some fishnet body suit that had two holes; one for her head and one for her crotch. Awesome!
At one point, her ta-ta's were showing from behind her tiny bikini top, and I asked Hammer if we should stop and tell her to stuff em' back in... he said not to bother.
total amazonian!
The bike was built by Eric Barnett. He even raced this thing in the Stampede last year taking 8th place I believe? 3000+ miles in just a handfull of hours... The dudes legit. Solid welder, inventive fabricator, all around good guy.

Stephanie

Stephanie, our cover model from issue #99 joined us at the Smoke Out East this year. I think she surprised everyone when she hopped on a mini bike and ran in XsSpeed's mini bike races. I believe she took 2nd? 1st in our hearts though.
Shortly after I snapped this photo sequence, there was a dude with a full face helmet on acting like a fool right up in front of the stage, flailing his hands about and begging like a little kid for a T-shirt to be tossed his way...
I grabbed a shirt from the bin and bundled it up real tight into a ball, handed it off to Stephanie and told her to throw it at him. Well she grabbed the shirt and wound up like a major league pitcher, and then just unleashed a cannon on this guy at point blank! POW! Right in the kisser! Fuckin' priceless-- I think the guy even enjoyed it a little bit...
Classy broad indeed. Keep yer eye's pealed for more shots of her issue #99 photo shoot tomorrow...
