memorial day weekend

Was a real doozie. Hope everyone spent some reflecting on what the day really stood for... Thanks to all Vets past and present, and God bless the U.S.A!

As you'll know from the post below, Fab Kev, Englishman and Hammer fired up Hammer's new Knuck on Saturday, and it looks like he logged some serious miles this weekend too. Those guys (E-man and Hammer) are leaving this friday for their cross country trip into Death Valley CA, then back to New Orleans to start the "long road" to Rockingham N.C. for the Smoke Out.

And in 11 days, i'll be starting my cross county vision quest to the west coast. Why the west coast and not the Smoke Out, you may ask? Well, Born-Free is scheduled on the same day as the Smoke Out... huge bummer. Last year, i was lucky enough to ride out to Born-Free, then next weekend ride out to Smoke Out West, then do the long road to Smoke Out east, and it was a-mazing.

But this year I had to make a choice, and keeping the Horse a major sponsor for the Born-Free event seemed like a good thing to keep doing. So i'll be out there running around like a mad man taking a bazillion photos while my girlfriend sells T-shirts and magazines at the Horse Booth... fuck, I can hardly stand still just thinking about it.

But back to this weekends events... I got to spend some quality time next to my Pops in the saddle, and it was a dam good time. He's the guy who taught be how to ride way back when, and we used to log miles upon miles every summer traveling all over the states. For one reason or another, we haven't been able to ride together all that much lately, but we made up for it on Monday, shredding the streets of Detroit with a vengeance...

Rockin the drip-dangly leather. This coat rules, period. Also picked up the new mexi-blanket last weekend while I was riding around Baltimore, MD. Tryin' to break the blanket in before all the shit she'll see on the road. This thing is already pretty filthy...

I brought my dad to my girlfriends art studio in Midtown Detroit. The first two floors are rented out as studio spaces, while then the next 6 floors above are all pretty much like this. Up for grabs, do as you please type shit.

The spiral staircase leading to the roof is nutty. Sort of feels like its going to fall apart, but thats all part of the fun, right?

The view up there is mind blowing. Not too many roof tops in Detroit you can trust standing on, but this is one of them. I think. 9 stories high and loving it.

And in other news, i'll be printing some more T-shirts this week to get ready for my Booth space at Born-Free. I'm working on a new design, something to go on a black T... might even put up a preview here sometime soon. Oh, and beer koozies come in this week too. Let the countdown to blast off being!
